Pastor Renan was born in a Christian home in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and was very active in his church growing up. He earned his MD and worked as a family physician and as a cardiologist while continuing to be active in ministry in various leadership roles at his local church. However, he sensed God’s call to full-time vocational ministry. After much prayer and consideration, he and his family moved to Canada to begin MDiv studies at McMaster Divinity College. Renan began as the Pastor of Portuguese Ministries at Good News Church in May 2022. He is married to Jackie, a psychologist, and they have two children, Daniel and Elisa. In his spare time, he loves to play piano and guitar and have fun with his kids playing video games and basketball.
